Its soul aim is to render quality education to the residents of Numaligarh and neighboring places in the state of Assam and beyond. Having been established by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in collaboration with Delhi Public School Society (DPSS), DPS, Numaligarh is a co-educational day-cum-residential school set in the township of Numaligarh Refinery. Surrounded by beautiful hills and tea estates Numaligarh provides a serene unpolluted atmosphere where children grow up and develop a holistic personality thereby, building an enviable character, a sense of self respect, discipline, qualities of head and heart and other values.
There are separate junior and senior sections with individual infrastructure facilities that cater to different age groups. The school is well-equipped with modern facilities that form the backbone of learning. A balance teacher-student ratio with not more than 30 – 35 students in each class / section enables teachers to pay individuals attention to the students. Special remedial classes are arranged to help slow learners.
The school was started with the strength of just 55 students including 20 hostellers under the founder Principal. The Dhansiri guest house was chosen as the temporary site for the school and the hostel. Soon the school moved down to the junior school building. With the passage of time, the senior school building and the hostel came up. Under the aegis of the second Principal Mr. A. J. Siromani the school rose to prominence.
The school motto ‘Service before Self’ is the foundation for students to direct their quest for self-confidence and leadership roles.
